The Krisper House

The Krisper House

The Krisper Art Nouveau house is the oldest building in this part of Ljubljana. It has become a model for other buildings and the entire district, which was built after the earthquake in 1895.

The architect Maks Fabiani, at the request of the owner Valentin Krisper, designed the building in the Art Nouveau style. The upper part of the facade is decorated with typical Art Nouveau motifs. Plant tendrils are depicted, complete with colourful round ceramic tiles that represent flowers.

There is a tower at the corner of the house, which is covered by the bell roof, under which there is a private balcony with wrought fence. Corner towers are a common element of Art Nouveau architecture, which can be seen in many buildings from this time in Ljubljana.
