One of the most interesting buildings in Ljubljana, which is richly decorated and with a colourful facade, is the work of architect Ivan Vurnik. The building is one of the most recognizable ones in Ljubljana. It is decorated with motifs inspired by folk art.

The facade and the auditorium inside the house were designed by the architect’s wife Helena Vurnik. The windows are surrounded by the wall painting representing carnation flowers.

Oral tradition says that the citizens of Ljubljana didn’t like the final appearance of the house. In their contempt they called it “Indian Embassy”.
