Chapel of St. Florian

Chapel of St. Florian

In front of the entrance bridge to the castle once stood old agricultural buildings and the castle chapel last dedicated to St. Florian, the patron saint of firemen and protector from fires and floods. In 1860, the castle lords asked the office of the bishop for permission to demolish the chapel in order to make room for the castle gardens. They were granted permission under the condition of reconstructing the chapel elsewhere. In the end, they did not do that, but they did set up a crucifix in front of the entrance to the park.
